We have had a short but good meeting in January, reviewing our various plans for 2008. It looks very promising. Our meetings will stay on the third Sunday of the month after Worship. This seems to work for most of us and it enables Pastor Susan to be with us. We will work with our book to do Bible study and discussion. Apart from our regular activities for the year, we have decided to revive some old favorites!
In line with Pastor Susan’s sermon of Jan 20th we will revive our Tea. It will not be as it was in the past by invitation only. We are still making our final plans but are looking forward to reviving this.
Plans are being made to revive our annual retreat in September. We are also looking into collecting items for Church World Service. I will let everybody know in the next newsletter what items we need for this.
Of course, we also discussed our regular activities. We are continuing our prayer shawls and Raggedy Ann’s and Andy’s and we will meet every second Wednesday to work on them. In the same way, we will continue to write Birthday cards and Christmas cards for the Reformed Church Home. The residents really appreciate these cards! If you have some cards that can be used for this, you can give them to Erie or leave them in the Women’s Guild mailbox in the kitchen.
Last year we held our first silent auction and it was a great success and gave us the funds to do our benevolences. This year we are going to have our second silent auction on Apr 26th. If you have items for the auction, please see Erie. We hope it will bring us the funds again to give our benevolences.
Another source of income for the Women’s Guild is the sale of decorative plates. If you look in the hutch in the fellowship Hall, you will find an example of the beautiful plate with a color picture of our church. If you want a plate, see Erie. They are $25 each.
