In May of 2007, a group from our church visited the First Reformed Church in Astoria, Queens for a weekend. We ate great food, talked, ate great food, took a walking tour of the neighborhood, worshipped, participated in a children’s program, ate great food, discussed our beautiful but demanding historic buildings, Dutch danced, and finally ate some more great food.
Through our interactions, we realized that our friends in Astoria were much more like us than unlike us. Though we have not seen each other in several years, we have not forgotten them, and they have not forgotten us. They have invited us to their church’s 176th anniversary of serving God in their community on Sunday, October 23, 2011.
We need to respond by October 9th with the number of people attending. We plan to get a van(s) so we can make the trip as a group. It’s a good thing to celebrate anniversaries, especially good to do this together. Hope you will consider joining the celebration!
