The Dina’s Dwellings project has become a real award winner! You all at FRC ought to be thrilled with the recognition that you are receiving for allowing the project to go forward. So many people have expressed their appreciation and gratefulness about FRC’s willingness to build ten apartments within the sanctuary walls.

Here are the two awards the project has received:

On November 18, Hartmut and Susan drove down to Atlantic City to receive along with the Mayor’s PR representative, Jennifer Bradshaw to receive the NJ League of Municipalities Innovation in Governance Award. It was actually awarded to the city of New Brunswick, however, Mayor Jim Cahill asked the Town Clock CDC to place it in the new entryway.

On December 4, Susan attended the NJ Supportive Housing Conference, where she and Tom Toronto, President of Bergen County United Way, were presented, in front of a room of 150 listeners, about the project. Afterwards, Susan went forward to receive the Innovation Award from the NJ Dept. of Community Affairs Commissioner Chuck Richman. The award is actually a lithograph of a disabled artist’s rendition of houses. Furthermore, FRC is named on this award! Actually, the NJ HMFA Executive Director Tony Marchetta nominated our project to the commission for this award. How wonderful that he is such a supporter for us!

As we met with the gather tenants this week for an orientation, we were amazed by how excited and grateful they are for their new homes. There were many smiles, hopeful voices, questions about color schemes and furniture….it was a wonderful meeting and to see the light of hope in their eyes.

This Christmas season, as you shop for gifts, please remember the families who will be moving into Dina’s Dwellings shortly after Christmas. In our Amazon Wish List, we have identified household items for our Hope Chest from $2 curtain rings to $75 microwaves that you can purchase directly. Each of these items will help our residents to start their lives anew. No matter how small, your donation will make a difference.

By selecting Town Clock CDC as your charity through Amazon Smile, we will receive a contribution as well.
