The Home Stretch for Fund-raising to Reach Our Match Goal

by Sherri Novack

Fund RaisingA couple weeks ago, Hartmut sent an email to the congregation asking for volunteers to make phone calls to businesses. After meeting with members of the Core Committee for the Community Campaign, the idea of a phone bank Saturday has been refocused.

The Core Committee members include: Sean Kath, Greg Ritter, Ezra Helfand, Liz Hance, Hartmut Kramer-Mills, Gary Bernhofer and Sherri Novack. These volunteers have a great deal of expertise to share in helping us meet our goal to raise the final 40% to match the grant.

Refocus I
The committee is in the process of gathering lists of companies to research. With Ezra’s suggestion, we have put together a spreadsheet of the company, its website, its giving guidelines and suggested next steps. What we are now asking from the congregation is volunteers to help with the research. If you have a computer, internet connection and some free time, you can help. We will provide the spreadsheet and company websites and ask you to look on these sites for the spreadsheet information.

Refocus II
While the research is going on, the Core Committee will develop a simple phone pitch that asks for a 10-minute face-to-face meeting with the company contact. Also, a simple leave behind brochure has been created that gives an overview of the preservation project. This will be placed in a folder containing the CD of the project, a copy of the churches tax letter and a self addressed envelop for donations.

What we need — volunteers for research and collation of the leave behind materials. We would like to finish the research as soon as possible. If you can help, please contact Sherri at or Pastor Hartmut at

Let’s reach this goal together.
