Stars in Sight for Advent Breakfast

by Erie Beemsterboer on July 12, 2009

in Events

Even with a lot of activities going on in the month of June, the Women’s Guild was able to meet. It was a short meeting, but a lot was accomplished. We finalized the date for our September retreat. We will have a special meeting and a potluck dinner at one of the Meadows Foundation houses. Please mark your calendars for Septempber 27th. Invitations will be sent out later. This will be our first meeting for the next season.

We also determined that the theme for our annual Advent Breakfast will be Stars. Thank you, Evan (a guest at the Womens’ Guild meeting) you were a great help with coming up with this!

So start thinking of some star-filled advent songs which we can sing on Dec 5th. We will send out save-the-dates to the various churches later this summer.

An Appeal!

We are running very low on our prayer shawls, so please keep your needles in motion this summer while on vacation or where ever! If you cannot knit, crochet, or don’t have the time for it but still want to contribute, please consider donating yarn or money towards yarn. The shawls are always received with much appreciation!

On March 15th, we finally sat down to watch the movie, The Whale Rider. This was an activity we had planned for our last retreat but never had gotten to do. Thank you, Janet, for getting us the movie! We all enjoyed it very much. We invited the others who where still around to join us. The kids soon decided that the beginning was too scary to keep watching, but those that stayed enjoyed it. It is a powerful message that is crafted into this story. If you were not able to watch with us, I can recommend it to watch it yourself! [ more » ]

Tea Party, Retreat, CWS Collection

by Erie Beemsterboer on July 22, 2008

in Women's Guild

Earlier this year, we decided to revive our annual Tea Party. We were not sure how the congregation would receive it. Now we can say that most of the people liked it. The tables were nicely laid and the flower decorations added a nice touch. It was very nice of Ellen, Janet and Bruce to make these flower arrangements and even use teapots as vases. The food was all delicious and was of a good variety; there was something for everybody’s taste. Thank you to everybody who helped in one way or the other! I hope we can keep the tradition alive now and have another party next year. [ more » ]
