Those who attended this rainy-day recital were rewarded by being transported to Paris. The trio Troupe du Jour — soprano Danielle Sinclair, mezzo-soprano Denise Mihalik, and pianist Kathy Shanklin–performed a wonderful group of songs that played with the line between classical and cabaret music. Cabaret had the edge! Just when one looked at the program and saw an unfamiliar composer’s name, out would come a song we had often heard sung by Edith Piaf. Troupe du Jour was followed by the Soups du Jour, another source of pleasure for those who attended.
Dates for the fall recitals:
September 25, October 9, October 23, and November 13.
