Fund-raising for Historic Preservation

By the end of February, the total of monies pledged and given was $296,999. In March, additional gifts and pledges boosted us over the $300,000 mark. We pause in the campaign to count our blessings along with the dollars. The money has already helped to restore the roof and tower of the education building and next, along with the first of our dollars from the capital grant awarded us by the NJ State Historic Trust, will fund further work on that building and the first work on the sanctuary.

As we approach individuals in the community with our cause, we need to involve members and friends of the congregation beyond those serving on the committee. A committee of business and professional leaders (including our own Elizabeth Hance) is being gathered to advise the committee on this effort. We also need members and friends of the congregation to be on a team that will make calls and visits to these potential donors. Please (please!) call or collar a member of the committee (Erie and Stef Beemsterboer, Lauren and Gary Bernhofer, Ellen Hamilton, Sherri Novack, Janet Waanders) or Pastor Hartmut to say you are willing to be on the team. This work is not the easiest part of fund-raising, but it is gratifying; we promise to give you some training and practice.
