As promised in last month’s newsletter, some more information about the prayer shawls this time. We had to postpone our first meeting due to the Valentine’s Day snow storm. We did have a very small group working on the shawls during the meeting, mostly because it was at the same time as another meeting. A book with patterns and prayers is on order and will be placed in the church once it arrives. We will keep meeting every second Wednesday from 9:30 a.m. until noon to work on the shawls. If you do have an internet connection and want more information and instructions, www.shawlministry.com is a very good source.
One thing I do not find in the instructions but would like to add is try to work with machine washable and dryable yarn. So far, four shawls have been completed. The idea is to make shawls during our meetings and whenever someone is able to do so. When they are finished, they will receive a final blessing during our prayer circle on Mondays. Afterwards, they will be delivered to those we think need them the most. If you do know of someone who might be in ‘need’ of a shawl, please let Erie know! I know more shawls are in the making!
Beside the prayer shawls, the Women’s Guild will have our first Silent auction in conjunction with the Square Dance event on Mar 10th. If you have a contribution, please inform Erie as soon as possible.
Our next regular meeting will be on March 18th. We will have a bible study prepared by Cindy after our regular church service.
The Raggedy Anns and Andys are being worked on very regularly as well. If you would like to help with them, or maybe buy one, please contact Ellen.
As mentioned during our Annual meeting: if you have birthday cards that can be used for the Reformed Church home, please give them to Erie. She will write them and Joan will deliver them to the people. They are usually very pleased with a little card or note on their special day.
In April, we will have our annual spring cleaning event. The date for that has not been set, but I will let you know in the next newsletter.
