An Interview with our “Big Lambs” – Daphne and Kathleen

What do you do in Sunday school?

In Big Lambs, we sit down, open up our little work booklets and begin the lesson. We read from the Bible, then discuss what we have read, and apply it to our daily lives.

What is used to teach you?

Right now we use little booklets called “Learn from the Bible to Live the Good News”, which offer us a key phrase, faith vocabulary, and other activities to do. In the past, we have used many different methods. We had Golden Parable Boxes that contained felt pieces in them which the teacher would use in order to tell parables. We also used wooden figurines to tell stories and to play with. Then we went to a method where every week there would be a snack and a craft for us to do at the end of the lesson. Eventually we went over to this system we have now. Continue reading

Something’s Growing!

Watch the corner! Pine Grove was awarded a “Plants for Pollinators in the Classroom!” kit from the Freehold Soil Conservation District. Our parents have turned the soil, and beginning this week we will be planting seeds and watching them sprout in the classroom. Sometime around Mother’s Day, we will receive a number of perennials. These plants, our seedlings, and plants from last year’s butterfly garden will all be planted in the corner to form what we hope will be a pollinator’s paradise. So watch for flowers, bees and butterflies to enjoy. Just please, protect the caterpillars. Continue reading

Pine Chef Contest at Pine Grove!

We’ve been planting seeds and painting bright suns. We’ve also been enjoying the warm weather and even picnicking outdoors with our lunch bunchers.

Back in March, children and parents alike were treated to the wonderful lunchtime recital featuring the harpist. We had many families interested in staying for the show and are now looking forward to the April performances. These recitals are such a wonderful way to expose the children to all different types of music. We are so grateful to be able to bring the children to the shows. Continue reading

March Benevolence

The Emergency Prescription Plan of FRC sets aside about $200 annually for walk-in requests for prescription support.

Generally folks drop in off the street asking for money to cover buying medication. What happens is that a person shows us a script signed by the doctor as well as identification. One of us in the office, from the pastors to volunteers, walks with this person up to the pharmacy in order to fill the prescription. Continue reading
