Here is yet another tradition of First Reformed Church: after the dress rehearsal for the Christmas Pageant, we have a pizza party and a visit from Santa. We used to go out to a pizzeria, but recently Erie Beemsterboer has proven her talent in making an awesome pizza! We are beginning rehearsals for our Christmas pageant and will practice during Sunday School.
Mark your calendars for December 19th, which goes as follows:
4:00-5:45 p.m. – Dress Rehearsal of the Christmas Pageant Play which is titled, Of Pigs and Paintings. It’s a provocative play with traditional tendencies, and is sure to bring a smile to us all, as well as joyful meaning to the day we all look forward to. Adults, if you would like to be involved, please contact Rev. Susan or Sandy Boyles. Besides actors, we need people to work on scenery, costumes, etc. Our pageant will debut on Sunday, December 20th during the church service. Then, at 6:00 p.m., Erie should have the first couple of pizzas ready to be enjoyed. She writes: “I will bring dough, start rolling and covering them with what you want! Are you more the plain tomato; cheese kind of pizza person, or do you like mushrooms, onions, olives, peppers, and or pepperoni? Let me know and I will put it on the pizza”
Can’t wait! Of course, salad, drinks, and dessert will all be served as well. The cost is $8 per person or $20 for a family. As always, extra donations will go to the renovation of the Women’s Bathroom.
After supper, we expect a visit from Santa, who carries along some goodies for the children. Last year, he brought some nice things for all the kids, young and younger. We just hope that his helpers have informed him that we have some wonderful new children this year!! However, adults like gifts as well! A game-story with gift exchange is planned for them. If you want to take part, bring in a wrapped gift, not exceeding $10 in value. Last year, we had great fun with the story of Mrs. Wright who was baking cookies for Santa. At the end of the story, we all ended up with a nice gift. You do not have to take part in this game. Instead, you can watch as we toss around the gifts during the story and then are surprised by the end. Again, it is a lot of fun and laughter!
Please, bring friends! Fellowship is a shared experience; so the more the merrier!
